Frequently Asked Questions
Got a question? We're here to answer! If you don't see your question here, reach out on our Contact page.
HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR NAME?
We started BONNAH CO as a 50/50 partnership, so we wanted our name to reflect that! BON is half of Bonnie and NAH is half of Hannah...put them together and you get BONNAH CO! (And HANNIE just didn't sound right.)
WHAT IS FIBER ARTS?
Fiber arts is an art form that uses materials made of natural or synthetic fibers, fabric, yarn, and/or thread. The most common types of fiber arts are embroidery, textile arts including dyeing, printing, and painting on fabric, and fiber manipulation like weaving. Mostly, it focuses on making something that looks nice, but at BONNAH CO we value making art that's functional, too!

WHAT TYPES OF FIBER ARTS DO YOU TEACH?
We currently offer classes that introduce students to embroidery and sewing, as well as surface design techniques like fabric stamping and fabric painting. We dabble in some macrame, too!

WHO CAN TAKE YOUR CLASSES?
Our students are mostly kids in grades k-5, but we also love teaching teens and adults. Currently, our virtual classes are open to adults and teens ages 14+.

DO I NEED ANY EXPERIENCE TO TAKE A CLASS?
Nope! Our classes are created for beginners! It's helpful to have some knowledge of working with a needle and thread, but it's definitely NOT NECESSARY.

WHY SHOULD I TAKE YOUR CLASS?
We strongly believe in the Handmade/DIY Movement. We want to encourage you to find the joy, confidence, pride, and relaxation that come along with the ability to make something with your own hands. Plus we donate a portion of our proceeds from every class back to the community through either the local school's PTA or another local charity.

WHERE CAN I TAKE A CLASS?
We'll be offering an in-person after school enrichment workshop in the Fall 2023 at our local elementary school. We also offer periodic virtual classes via Zoom plus in-person classes through local libraries.

HOW CAN I GET SEW FUN! CLASSES AT MY CHILD'S SCHOOL?
Have someone from your PTA contact us via phone or email.

HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE IN EACH CLASS?
We never have more than 12 students in each class. We want everyone to have the best experience possible and keeping class sizes small helps us do that!

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THE COST OF EACH CLASS?
We provide everything you need for each class, including any supplies, use of the sewing machines, and the instructional time. You're also welcome to borrow supplies to practice or finish work outside of class if you'd like. Just remember to bring back any borrowed supplies to the next class.

HOW LONG IS EACH CLASS?
Our Sew Fun! kids' sessions are broken up into SIX - EIGHT 1-hour classes, and Teens' and Adults' Events are generally ONE 3-hour party in person or TWO 90-minute sessions online.

CAN I HOST A PARTY?
Absolutely! We love teaching small classes and what better way than in the comfort of your own home with a close group of friends or family. Find out more on our Classes Page and then Contact us to learn about hosting a party.

DO YOU OFFER PRIVATE LESSONS?
Yes! We are happy to offer both private and semi-private lessons for both sewing and embroidery. Learn more here!

DO YOU SELL GIFT CARDS?
You bet! You can buy yours here.

DO YOU OFFER ANY FREE RESOURCES?
